INSTALLATION OF EMILY WIKNER
Installation of our new Christian Education Director, Emily Wikner will take place this Sunday, August 23 at both services. Please join us and celebrate with a Larita’s cookie, individually wrapped.
SUNDAY WORSHIP
Sunday worship will continue at 9am traditional indoors and 11 am contemporary outside. Max capacity 50 people. Wear masks, social distance, hand sanitize in and out, and wipe down pews with disinfectant wipes.
WEDNESDAY EVENINGS
In person worship will resume September 30th at 7 pm in the sanctuary. Max capacity 50 people. Wear masks, social distance, hand sanitize in and out, and wipe down pews with disinfectant wipes.
AUGUST & SEPTEMBER SERVICES AND USE OF THE CHURCH
Services are still being placed on Facebook on Wednesdays and Sundays, upload time varies. Sunday services can also be found on the church website, www.stolaffd.org and at 10:30 am on KVFD 1400 AM radio station.
DRIVE THRU COMMUNION
Communion will commence beginning Wednesday evening, 5-6 pm on September 9th, with a drive by distribution that includes an individually wrapped and pre-blessed wafer and wine combo. These will be pre-blessed. Pastor and assistant will use masks and gloves. The elements will be placed on a tray for each car. Car riders will take the elements off the tray. You will receive the gift, recite the Lord’s Prayer, consume, and receive the blessing. After each ”transaction” the tray will be disinfected. Repeat.
BAPTISM
Pastor will be willing to provide baptisms in emergency circumstances. The goal is to keep all safe. This is especially true for our littlest Lutherans. Please contact the church office 515-576-2103 or Pastor Emily 515-230-2078 should the need arise.
CONFIRMATION 2020-21
Confirmation will be for returning students only. Those in 7th grade or older who would have otherwise started their first year will be postponed until fall 2021. Returning students need to be caught up on the educational materials. The smaller group will also be easier if or when we go into the distance learning model.
CARPET – UPDATE
The new carpet has been ordered and should arrive in early September, please note that the offices will be painted prior to the installation. The price of this project is $35,000. Please consider giving your support!
NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Our church council is seeking new leaders to serve. Current openings for 2021 are President, Treasurer, Youth, Education, and Worship & Music. Our nominating committee is Teresa Gross, Marcia Kuker, Viv Nore, and Pastor Emily. Please contact a member if you are interested in fulfilling one of these positions.
