Lutheran World Relief

Is an international, nongovernmental, organization which helps provide essential items to those in need. A truck will be taking items for Lutheran World Relief from Fort Dodge to a central location on September 25. We are asking the congregation to consider providing the following items for personal care kits from now through the end of June:

light-weight bath-sized towels (between 20″ x 40″ and 52″ x 27″) – dark color
sturdy combs
metal nail clippers (attached file optional)

Please bring these items to the church by the last Sunday of June (June 27). A box labeled “Lutheran World
Relief” will be placed in the west entrance of the church to receive these items.

Please contact Judy Lang (call or text 515 571 5737 or email judithlang@aol.com) or Viv Nore (call or text
515 250 1772 or email vivnore@gmail.com) if any questions.
There is an urgent need for this help after the pandemic delay last year – thank you so much for your support!

‘CAMP OLAF’ OUR SUMMER WEDNESDAY PROGRAM

Mark your calendars for our Camp Olaf fellowship and worship opportunities. Every Wednesday starting June 16th, we will gather for an outdoor picnic meal at 5 pm, children’s activities will begin at 6 pm, and we will hold at short worship service at 7 pm. Please check the June Visitor newsletter for more information.

PANAMA TRIP – LAST CHANCE to Donate!

In less than 2 weeks – Nancy Hamilton, Kim Peimann, Emily Wikner and Pastor Emily will be heading to Panama on a mission trip. Please continue to pray for them as they travel and for success in their sharing the gospel. The caps for Panama will continue to be collected through Sunday, May 30th.

SEW SISTERS NEED PANAMA SEWING HELP!

Let’s have some fun and help someone at the same time! Our mission team to Panama would really like to give clothing sewed by people from our congregation to the indigenous Panamanian children that we meet there. The Sew Sisters have patterns and kits, fabric and supplies, to make simple shorts, tops, dresses, and dolls, and you may also use your own if you wish. Please call Nancy Hamilton at 515-570-1731 if you’d like to participate in this project, and we’ll help you get started. Let’s pray for the children there while we are sewing. You will see photos and videos of us handing ‘your’ clothing to a child. Deadline for completed items is June 1st.

RAGBRAI XLVIII – TEAM BARKING SPIDERS –– JULY 26th

St. Olaf will be hosting the RAGBRAI Barking Spiders team on July 26th. The Barking Spiders are a group that originates from Ames, IA but includes members from as far away as Canada! The OLES will be in charge of a Baked Potato Bar for the evening meal. Watch for more details!

CHURCH BUS SERVICE

If you would like to be contacted by the St. Olaf office each Friday to confirm your ride, we will provide transportation to the 9 am Traditional Service. Please phone the church office, 515-576-2103, if you would like to be added to the call list.

1. The Western Iowa Synodical Women’s Organization will be having a convention this year! It will be on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at First Lutheran Church in Algona. The theme is “Just Love” based on 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in love.” Registration in $35. More information in coming weeks. Registration forms will be available. Save the date!

2. The Women of the ELCA Triennial Convention will be digital/online in August. More information later.
3. The Lutheran World Relief pickup will be on Saturday, September 25th, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge. I will be asking for volunteers to help with this later. Let’s start collecting things for the kits.

If you are interested in attending this event, please contact Emily Wikner at christianedemily.stolaffd@gmail.com so she can send you the online sign-up form and waiver. You must RSVP and turn in your waiver and money no later than June 1st. We only have 25 spots available in the church vans, so unless you are providing your own transportation, sign up and RSVP sooner rather than later.
