This is the backdrop in John\u2019s gospel for Peter\u2019s confession of faith. \u201cTo whom can we go?\u201d asks Peter, in words we sometimes sing just before the gospel is read. \u201cYou have the words of eternal life.\u201d In order to take such a stand, as Peter and Joshua did, Paul tells us to arm ourselves with the word of God.
