God\u2019s way is often contrary to the world\u2019s.\u00a0 Our culture says, \u201cDon\u2019t let anyone push you around, \u201cbut Jesus teaches that it is the merciful, the meek, and the peacemakers who are successful in God\u2019s kingdom (Matthew 5:5-9).\u00a0 The world encourages material prosperity and personal comfort, while Scripture says we are successful when we become more like Jesus and follow God\u2019s plan. \u00a0
True success starts with our thinking.\u00a0 Picture your mind as a computer that regulates your attitudes and actions, directing your response in different situations.\u00a0 Since our decisions are made on the basis of values and priorities stored in the mind, our responsibility as Christ followers is to feed it a steady diet of God\u2019s Word.\u00a0 Only scriptural truth can counter the continuous stream of ungodly or useless data that daily barrages our thinking.\u00a0 The Bible is the standard by which we screen the various ideas and attitudes that come our way (Philippines 4:8).
When we meditate on Scripture and value God\u2019s standards in our mind, our words and actions will follow suit.\u00a0 Let\u2019s opt out of the world\u2019s love of power and material success – and instead become the people God planned for us to be.\u00a0 Then we can accomplish His purposes for us.\u00a0 That is real success!

Thoughts from Colossians 3:5-10
We must rid ourselves of all evil practices and immorality and commit ourselves to what Christ teaches.\u00a0 This way of life is given to us by Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 It is our responsibility to display love, faith, and hope.\u00a0 The more we know of Christ and his work, the more we are being changed to be like him.\u00a0 Because this process is lifelong, we must never stop learning and obeying.\u00a0 We must be willing to give when others take, to love when others hate, to help when others abuse and use our time to serve others. \u00a0
